Photo Blog Entry 2

Might just finish off Vivid today. I forgot entirely about blogging till I saw the date... and saw it was approaching the end of June. Today was freezing cold, it was literally the coldest day it's been this whole year, and it's pure torture getting out of bed. No, scrap that, it's pure torture to even get out of the first layer of my blankets, much less all three, and don't even talk about getting out of the bed entirely. I can't be thankful enough for my blankets... don't even feel the cold AT ALL even on the coldest nights, and this is without turning on any heaters.

Once out of bed though, it's straight into blue snuggly bathrobe and much needed hugging of the heater. Digressing!

I actually have the description recorded, this is called the Wovenglow by Joanne Pike. It is a multi coloured sphere (but there were several on this tree and other trees) created from woven electroluminescent tape, representing the individual, the whole, as an orb of energy.

You're meant to talk to the tree and the orbs will glow. My brother decided to save himself from looking stupid and talking to a tree by playing loud jpop via his phone. I'm sure the tree enjoyed it because the orbs glowed.

Excessive tilt shift you say? Misusing the effect you say? No such thing! Stanley's just doing his job.

This was actually just a room with three panels with letter cut outs. Quirky.

Snakes on a giant wall!

I'm sure this is one of the exhibitions that was widely photographed and featured. Stacks of pallets with light in the middle, this was created by the youngest artist of Vivid I think. My brother's photos of this was featured in some press.

Trees were nicely decorated =) I love trees, with or without decorations... most of the time I like them plain, but decorated can be nice too. If anything, I want to see sakura trees lit up by white light at night. Along the banks of a running stream or river. With a red bridge. Yea...

This was an interactive one, where there's a touchscreen in front of the buildings where one can choose their occupation, location on the map, even their business, and I think it tells you how many of them there are in your area too. Not quite sure, the grounds were muddy and I didn't linger here long.

Yep.

Spinning cube. It's like being in those old school discos, but cooler.

One of my favourite exhibits actually, this was a giant windchime.

There's the sound of waves crashing and soothing waters playing through some speaker inside the dome of windchimes.

Ok, let me clarify that I'm no fan of kids during Vivid. My brother and I were talking between ourselves at how some kids are such terrors and should be carefully monitored rather than let loose to run amidst all the exhibits. A couple of middle aged aunties overheard us and started saying to each other how they think it's delightful to have kids running around and basically saying we weren't brought up right. Not personally offended, because either they didn't see the multiple signs of "Do Not Touch" and "Do Not Enter" placed around exhibits, or they just haven't seen a kid wrecking art and getting electrocuted by pulling on something they shouldn't be touching.

But then this kid was being so cute. So no, I'm not a complete child hater. Really, I'm not. As long as they are good kids.

Too many people and I didn't bring tripod/cbb to do long exposure.

Good thing they fenced this one off so those kids can't go jumping into the sea trying to get crystals from the chandelier.

This was like little sticks of tanpopo, which was really pretty. The lights changed colours and at one point it was just all white.... just like tanpopo!

Oh hey, see that Danger No Entry sign there? You just know kids are illiterate and cannot read signs so yes, plenty of them were crawling around inside with oblivious parents telling them to pose/sit/stand/touch while snapping pictures of them when they should really be teaching them how to read and understand the word "danger". Not bitter, just saying.

Dark waters...

There is something spooky in the sea... this was really well done, but it wasn't there all the time. Don't think it was part of Vivid actually because there was no pole of description for it.

Those angler fish bikes are all prettily lit up now! Since they move around, it was pretty hard to catch them, lucky~

Gonna photospam my way to the end of the post, getting tired =D

Random girl on hopscotch, but poor thing, because the past couple of days have been rainy, the mud and grass have dirtied the exhibit. Still pretty though.

Actually, this is longer than I thought it'd be. Might split it up and end here. Photo blog entry 3 to follow.
